Your local public library does more than store books!  It gives people a “sense of place” by providing a stimulating gathering place where ideas and information can be exchanged freely.

With a service area of 4,100 residents, Rushford Public Library:

offered 43 hours of service per week to borrowers who made
36,559 visits to the library;

fielded  864 requests for specific information that required reference services from staff;

checked out 33,408 items to library users;

provided  25,875 books, magazines, audio books, videos/DVDs,  music CDs, and other unique resources available to card holders;

 participated in reciprocal borrowing, received 3,555 items from other libraries while lending 6,091 items to other libraries to meet customer needs throughout the region and state;

served as the community’s access point to the Internet with 7 computers available for public use;  5,118 customers used these computers to find Internet-delivered information;

worked in the community by delivering  918 reading materials to the homebound and assisted living residents;

supported education by lending youth materials, and offering  63 children’s programs that were attended by 852 children;

increased entertainment and educational opportunities for adults by sponsoring 8 winter reading programs with 97 in attendance;

1600 square feet of facility space and 1.97 staff.

Total revenues $123,957

Rushford Public Library is a member of Southeastern Libraries Cooperating (SELCO), the regional public library system providing support services to libraries in 11 southeastern Minnesota Counties.

Library Board

The Rushford Library Board of Trustees work on providing and improving library services to the community.  The board meetings are open to the public, and are held the first Tuesday of every other month, at 5:30 pm in the Rushford Public Library.
